After failing to help her sister run away with a princess, Magda is captured and forced to go on a quest to retrieve the legendary fern flower for the man who murdered her sister. Kostya, a dangerous and powerful Mage, accompanies her, acting as both her captor and protector. He is a constant reminder of all she has lost, and soon, Magda’s sadness turns into anger as she secretly vows to take her revenge. Kostya has secrets of his own—one that explains his undying loyalty to the prince, despite his cruelty. He couldn’t care less about the witch, and even if he did, his orders are clear: use Magda to find the flower, then kill her. And yet, despite their animosity, somewhere amid the monster attacks, spring equinox celebrations, and near-death experiences, Magda and Kostya’s feelings towards one another change and begin to threaten their respective allegiances, and most of all, their hearts.

Back in her gilded cage on the other side of the Kingdoms, Princess Vasilisa is haunted by the soul of her dead lover, who has turned into a kikimora, a nightmare spirit. Ridden by grief, the princess meets a green-eyed storyteller, who reveals a way for her to appease the kikimora: Vasilisa must become a witch. And so, at midnight in a dying willow-herb field, the princess tempts her fate once again.

The Fern Flower will entice readers looking for a slow-burn enemies to lovers, sapphic/queer MCs, and a world inspired by slavic folklore.
